On reliable information about the plans of attack by terrorists and through ground investigation, a joint team of the Special Operations Group (SOG) at Jammu and Kashmir (J&K)'s Handwara and SOG Bandipora conducted a counter-terror operation on Wednesday. The security forces arrested one active terrorist of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit at Hajin in the Bandipora district.
The Indian Army's 13th and 32nd Rashtriya Rifles, and 92nd battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were involved in the operation.
The terrorist arrested by the police has been identified as one Aquib Ahmad Rather, a resident of Sahipora in J&K's Handwara.
Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession.
The police have lodged an FIR at the Kralgund police station and an investigation has been launched, a police statement said.
